I have been practicing Yoga and training/working in the wellness world since 2003. My journey started in Mexico studying Shiatsu on an idyllic volcanic lake. When I returned to Brighton I studied Swedish massage and anatomy/physiology at college and then went onto my foundation in Shiatsu with the European School Of Shiatsu, a year long delve into traditional Chinese medicine theory, the meridian system, 5 element theory and hands on healing, as well as my Reiki 1 attunement.
I took a hiatus in my 30’s from the wellbeing world, and went down a path of being a milliner. Which lead me to Wiltshire where I became head designer for a high end couture hat brand, designing and producing awesome headwear for the likes of Harrods, Fenwicks, Royalty etc etc… 8 years later!!! I returned…
5 years ago I trained in Yin & Vinyasa Yoga in Goa. With vinyasa, I fell in love with the flow of movement and the dance of the breath whilst linking to movement and gliding through space. Yin yoga blew me away, it blends the ancient Indian Hatha Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine theory to create a nervous system and connective tissue healing practice, so with my Shiatsu background I really resonated with this practice. Yin Yoga is a deep nervous system reset, working with this yin tissues of the body; fascia, ligaments, tendons, bones and the waters of the body. There are longer held postures, supported by props so you can truly melt into your body and release tension and trauma. I Started to blend the Yin and vinyasa together to create a mindful slow movement practice, blending in the teachings of tantra to create now what I call Embodied Flow, this is a full body practice, Yin and Yang.
I then went on to study Integral meditation with Swami Vidyanand, functional Yin Yoga with Bravefish Yoga in Salisbury, Bhakti Yoga & Movement Medicine teacher training with Yogasara in Bristol and Frankie Walker who is a Senior Yoga teacher & Mind body Cantering Practitioner, the course was ”A matter of care, hands on and off adjusts”, learning somatic yoga and how to use touch in somatic therapy. As you can imagine, this all feeds into my teachings and my unique classes that I offer.
I completed 300hrs Ayurvedic coach certificate in January, for this year I embodied the ancient teachings of Ayurveda, Tantra and Devine Feminine, a truly transformational time for me. I share this beautiful knowledge in a bimonthly Women’s Wellness themed workshop. I am now nearly finishing my second second year to become a Ayurvedic Counselor, training deeper into the pathology of disease so I can support my clients to get to the root of their pain, discomfort and suffering, whilst creating a soul nurturing healing path to walk together.
I have also just started a degree in clinical herbalism.
Nature is the medicine!
I hope to meet you!
Be well,
Jordana
